Objective: Weighing psychopathological variables associated with pain in fibromyalgia (FM)Material and methods: To 100 FM patients (FMP), we applied the tests of visual analog scale to assess pain intensity, the quality of life questionnaire, the trait anxiety questionnaire and scale of life satisfaction and adverse parenting experiences were also investigated. Results: It was found when compared with the normal population, the FMP has higher levels of pain, anxiety, depression and negative affect and lower quality of life, life satisfaction and positive affect. The tests´s correlations asociated functionally with brain structures were analogous to those between them.Factor and correspondence analysis showed that negative valence variables: pain, state-trait anxiety, depression, negative affect and psychological abuse were of opposite sign to the positive valence: social function and mental health.Discussion: Factors associated with pain that were also reported in other research, justifies its treatment as a complementary strategy to relieve pain. The background of the associated psychological abuse, underpin the use of psychotherapy within these measures. Conclusions : Our findings allow for broader research, that more accurately document the complexity of FM, is achieved more effective treatment.
