EVALUACIÓN DE LA FORMACIÓN PIMIENTA INFERIOR COMO YACIMIENTO NO CONVENCIONAL, AL SUR DE LA CUENCA TAMPICO-MISANTLA

An assessment of lower Pimienta formation as non-conventional reservoir in terms of Brittleness Index (BI) and Total Organic Carbon (TOC), done in the South portion of Tampico misantla basin is presented. Neural Artificial Networks were used as a tool to compensate the lack of information, creating the following synthetic curves: RT, RHOB, DPHI, DTC and DTS in 11 “analysis wells” that only contained the GR and NPHI curves presented in a physical format (paper). The starting point is a “training well” that contained the complete set of curves previously described.The use of Get Graph Digitizer was needed to manipulate the paper based data in a digital way, next it was assigned a grid which is dependent of the lower Pimienta gross thickness for each analysis well, and the result of this is a punctual well log lecture in depth presented in a .csv format.With the use of DTC and DTS well logs the elastic modulus were calculated, and these results served as base to estimate the Brittleness Index, in the other hand TOC is estimated following the methodology proposed by Passey (1990). The intervals of interest were derived through cutoff parameters defined by TOC and BI values. The final evaluation was done through the stratigraphic and structural interpretation of the PayShales, showing as result that the zone 4 at then NW of the study area is the best to amplify the non-conventional reservoir assessment.
