Estrategias comunicativas en las conversaciones \'escribladas\' de chat . El contacto lingüístico

This paper first proposes a reflection on the traditionaldivision of communication levels (interpersonal, social) after the onset of computer-mediated communication (CMC). In the framework of CMC, it particularly examines online chat conversations written by young Basques from different places of origin in the social networks. More specifically, it focuses on the use of linguistic elements that indicate the language contact between Spanish andBasque; the code switching (CS) elements in informal conversations among youth. It also looks at the use of this strategy outside the scope of youth communication. This paper especially examines the discourse connectors and markers, and the connecting elements of the dialogic imported from L2, whose main function is mainly phatic (Jakobson). It regards CS use in young people’s cyber-discourses as one of speakers’ communicative strategies to shape the identity of the group (youth) and make it differentiated, and to express rejection of the academic, formal, purist norm.
