White-rot fungi are characterized by their ability to degrade lignin but also a variety of organic compounds structurally similar. Biodegradation ability of white-rot fungi is generally assumed to be associated with the production of extracellular ligninolytic enzymes. Among them laccase and manganese- peroxidase appear to be the most ubiquitous and extensively studied. Use of whole fungal cultures for decolourization is not easily applicable in a large scale, at present, the studies of in vitro decolourization of synthetic dyes by crude or purified enzymes becomes more important. The objectives of this work were: to evaluate the influence of pH and temperature on stability and enzymatic activities of extracellular liquid produced by Trametes maxima MUCL 44155 culture and to assay the in vitro decolourization of several synthetic dyes.
