Self-organized arrays stable at room temperature containing three or five macrocyclic fragments have been constructed using two-fold ligation of Zn-porphyrin and Zn-chlorin chemical dimers by di- or tetrapyridyl substituted porphyrins, chlorins or tetrahydroporphyrins.
