Descripción

Archaeology has been dating back the human occupancy of what we nowadays know as Guadix, at least to the second half of the second millennium B.C. (antique Argar). In this excavation , some levels which could be ascribed to the Final Bronze Age were documented. It probably was the rubbish dump of a metallur-gist's workshop placed next to the gully which would formerly flow along the same course now occupied by San Miguel Street. Among the material found, a great quantity of metal stands out: pieces of needles, part of the bridge of an elbow fibula, " drops " , ... Regarding structures, only two tank-shaped hearths with ceramic soils have been documented. The importance and dispersion of the places in Guadix where remains from this period have been documented so far, show an inhabited area of at least 1,8 ha.
