El Tratado de Libre Comercio con Estados Unidos y los efectos sobre la producción y el empleo del Valle del Cauca

This paper aims to estimate the effect of the FTA between Colombia and the US on production and sectoral employment in the region of Valle del Cauca. Following the methodology of Dresdner (2006), a regional symmetrical input-output matrix was calculated at 2005 prices, an employment matrix and price elasticities of exports of products that benefited from any tariff reduction were estimated via treaty ( category a), to obtain these product variations and to perform simulation exercises. It is concluded that the effect on regional production is marginal (0.16%) and employment in 4336 were generated (equivalent) full time.
