Abstract: The introduction of the postcolonial approaches to the studies concerning the early first millennium BC in the Iberian Peninsula determines a review of previous theoretical perspective defined in Colonial Archaeology, considering also indigenous communities and their co-protagonist role in cultural contacts.
Due to its geographical position (an interior and hilly area), but at the same time well-connected to Andalusian coasts, the area of Intrabetic furrow has proved to be a suitable place to investigate the bidirectional cultural relations between the local and foreign populations.
On the one hand, the study on the material culture of some of the Intrabetic furrow major settings has shown the possible presence of contacts at Mediterranean level, and on the other hand the differences in the processes of adoption and adaptation of foreign elements used by the two indigenous communities, which are the subject of this study.
KEYWORDS: Intrabetic furrow, 8th-6th centuries BC, local communities, Mediterranean populations, cultural contacts
