Taking some passages from Thomas Mann's Doktor Faustus, the essay aims to deepen in two "musical" dimensions that determine the direction and success of the Mann's work: the eco and the wail. The result is an interaction between the musicological elements most closely linked to philosophy and theology. In this sense, the contributions of Adorno and W. Benjamin are crucial. Mann assumes them in his novel to address the transfer of rigorous music composition to expression and in parallel, the transition from despair to hope, from damnation to redemption.
