Descripción

The motivations for focusing the study of a literary text in a Romanic perspective are given by the text itself and its determining factors. In the light of this premise, this contribution arises from the inductive method in order to highlight the research potentialities afforded by medieval Hispanic traditions by means of an illustrative example: the Castilian version of Li Livres dou Tresor by Brunetto Latini. A family of manuscripts from the rich textual tradition of the French encyclopaedia becomes a key piece for an understanding of the reality of the Tresor which, based on this new link, appears as a “living text” that imposes a return to its critical edition and to the study of its textual genesis. Accordingly, this paper reinforces the importance that both Philology and the “dialogue” among the diverse literatures of Medieval Romance have in the enlargement, enrichment and the dissemination of their own legacy.
