El contraste y su relevancia biológica en la semiótica fotográfica

RESUMEN. Para poder determinar el significado de una fotografía es necesario entender los mecanismos biológicos que nosotros los seres humanos utilizamos para procesar la información sensorial del mundo, en este caso, nuestro sistema visual. En el presente artículo discutimos solamente uno de los múltiples aspectos de la semiótica formal, el 'contraste', dicho elemento es el que conlleva mayor impacto en la claridad de la articulación visual; haciendo que la imagen muestre de manera clara e inmediata, los elementos y relaciones formales contenidos en la misma y denota de manera evidente al observador cuáles de esos elementos y relaciones son más significativos, facilitando así la decodificación del significado emotivo y cultural de la imagen. ABSTRACT. In order to determine the meaning of a photograph it is necessary to understand the biological mechanisms that we humans use to process sensory information from the world, in this case, our visual system. In this article we discuss only one of the many aspects of formal semiotics, 'contrast', that element is the one that involved a greater impact on the visual clarity of articulation; making the image shows immediate clarity on their visual elements, and also their formal relationships contained therein and denotes obvious way to the observer of these elements and their relationships, thereby facilitating the decoding of emotional and cultural significance of the image.
