All “material” elements of our heritage have the same complex problem about their physical integrity. Along the time, there has been several conservation works which had been documented, especially during the last century, through technical reports. We propose that beside these “technical reports”, will be add the “black box”. The black box is a physical support where we can save material elements, as physical samples of piece or products/objects which were used for its conservation and these elements will be linking with it.In the case of sculptures, black box can save small fragments of rock. The same that previously we used for identifying their origin. It may serve for preserving samples of pictorial layers and small bottles with products that have been used during their restoration. Would even be interesting to have samples of the different frameworks that a pictorial work has had in the past.Another concept about this method, is that science always advancing, so there are studies which nowadays are impossible to do, but in the future could be do. For this it is necessary to keep these samples now. After reviewing the most recent literature about heritage. We have not found anything similar our proposal. The most similar elements in historical collections are the lapidaries or collections of stucco. Whose purpose is different from we propose for the black box. Keywords: Black Box, Heritage, Conservation.
