This article analyzes the meaning and possible sources of carmenDe quadruplici medicorum vultu published with the Dialogus de re medicawritten by Pedro Jimeno (1549), Professor of Medicine at the University ofValencia. Jimenos’s humanism has been often treated from the perspective ofthe medical discipline, since he introduced the Vesalius’ anatomical doctrine.In this analysis relevant data are obtained to characterize the author as a followerof the ideological and philological principles of humanism.
