El automovilismo deportivo en México. Sus primeros clubes y competencias (siglo XX)

Este artículo analiza una de las manifestaciones más representativas del deporte moderno: el  automovilismo. Se busca contribuir al estudio de los clubes,  onsiderados por algunos académicos como uno de los aspectos fundamentales en el proceso de consolidación del deporte moderno. En la investigación se plantean las transformaciones que la recepción del automóvil produjo en la sociedad mexicana, proponiendo como hipótesis central que la élite porfirista creó los primeros clubes automovilistas siguiendo un conjunto de intereses económicos y demostrando que las competencias fueron un detonante para desarrollar algunas industrias dentro del mismo territorio. Por último, se concluye que al estudio del deporte moderno y sus clubes debe incorporarse el análisis del deporte con un sentido de empresa. *The article analyzes one of the most representative manifestations of modern sports: sports car racing. It seeks to contribute to the study of the clubs, considered by some academics to be one of the fundamental aspects in the process of consolidation of the modern sport. The study presents the transformations that the reception of the automobile produced in Mexican society, proposing as its central hypothesis that the elite during the regime of Porfirio Diaz created the first automobile clubs in line with a set of economic interests and demonstrating that the competitions were a detonator for developing certain industries within the same territory. Finally, it concludes that the study of the modern sport and its clubs should incorporate a sense of enterprise into the analysis of the sport.
