EL ARMAMENTO DE UN ASENTAMIENTO FORTIFICADO A FINALES DEL SIGLO XII: EL CASTRO DE LOS JUDÍOS (PUENTE CASTRO, LEÓN)

RESUMEN: Las excavaciones realizadas entre 1999 y 2005 en el Castro de los Judíos (Puente Castro, León) desvelaron parte de la trama constructiva del mismo, así como un importante volumen de materiales arqueológicos medievales. Entre los abundantes objetos metálicos recuperados destaca un numeroso lote de proyectiles de tiro fechados en el siglo XII que son presentados en este trabajo, planteando un debate sobre su vinculación con la fortaleza militar del castro o con el asedio sufrido por el mismo en 1196. ABSTRACT: Excavations at the archaeological site called " Castro de los Judíos " (Puente Castro, León) between 1999 and 2005 reveal part of its architectural structures and an important collection of medieval artifacts. A lot of metal objects were recovered in this site. This paper approaches the study of a large arrowheads collection found in 12 th century levels. Its high number starts a debate about its relation with the military detachment who guarded this emplacement or with the site attack in 1196.
