Descripción

The aim of this work was to evaluate the traffic intensity impact during the clear-cutting of the first rotation on the growth of the Pinus taeda and the bulk density, after eight years of the harvest. The data registrated were growth and bulk density, sampled in three soil depth's, in 60 plots installed in non thinned plantations, 30 of them in areas of high traffic intensity (HI-TI) and 30 in areas of low traffic intensity (LO-TI). No significant differences were detected in the dominant height (Hdom), basal area and volume. On the other hand, the bulk density (Bde) and the total porosity (Tp) showed significant differences (P: 0.05) for the depth 10-30 cm. The biggest values of Bde corresponded to the areas HI-TI. Statistically significant regressions were identified between Hdom and Bde10-30 , Tp0-30, and Tp0-60. Therefore subsurface compaction was detected in the areas that supported bigger traffic intensity when the clear-cut was made, and that impact persists after eight ...
