Discriminación de entonación afirmativa e interrogativa en español por parte de ratas

DISCRIMINACIÓN DE ENTONACIÓN AFIRMATIVA E INTERROGATIVA EN ESPAÑOL POR PARTE DE RATAS Barón Birchenall, Leonardo Franciso Fundación Universitaria Los Libertadores Resumen Según Noam Chomsky es posible que el componente sintáctico del lenguaje sea privativo de los humanos, mientras que aspectos semánticos y fonológicos, no (Hauser, Chomsky & Fitch, 2002). Al respecto se ha hecho investigación con humanos, monos, roedores y aves cantoras (Gervain & Mehler, 2010). En este marco se ha informado que las ratas responden conductualmente en forma similar a los humanos respecto a la discriminación del idioma japonés y del holandés (lo logran al ser presentadas las frases hacia adelante, pero no al ser presentadas a la inversa) (Toro, Trobalon & Sebastián-Gallés, 2003). Teniendo en cuenta que así como las categorías rítmicas que permiten la diferenciación del japonés y el holandés, los contornos de entonación afirmativo e interrogativo tienen un componente universal (Gussenhoven & Chen, 2000; Ramus, Nespor & Mehler, 1999), en este estudio en curso, a partir del método usado en Toro et al., se busca investigar si las ratas pueden distinguir entre frases con entonación interrogativa y otras con entonación afirmativa, en español. Se espera que las ratas logren la discriminación con las frases hacia adelante, pero no a la inversa. De esta forma se profundizaría el conocimiento sobre los mecanismos perceptuales relacionados con el habla.

In this regard, research has been done with humans, apes, rodents and songbirds (Gervain & Mehler, 2010). In this context it has been reported that rats respond behaviorally similar to humans regarding discrimination of Japanese and Dutch languages (they succeed when sentences are presented forwards, but not when they are presented backwards) (Toro, Trobalon & Sebastián-Gallés, 2003). Given that the rhythmic categories that allow differentiation of the Japanese and Dutch languages, and the contours of affirmative and interrogative intonation have an universal component (Gussenhoven & Chen, 2000; Ramus, Nespor & Mehler, 1999), in this ongoing study, based on the method used in Toro et al., we investigate whether rats can distinguish between sentences with interrogative intonation and others with affirmative intonation, in Spanish.
