Dictadura i democràcia en el món rural català: Les Borges Blanques 1923-1945

The thesis is a study on the history of the town of Les Borges Blanques between 1923 and 1945, covering the stages of the dictatorship of Primo de Rivera, the Second Spanish Republic, the Civil War and the Franco regime. The work is based on the assumption that the local political system strongly marked the economic, social and cultural population. In this regard the research puts special emphasis on the biographies of people that were involved at various political levels so that in the end there have also been observed continuities between the two dictatorships. The study notices the Second Republic as the great political rupture of the twentieth century in les Borges as it was the culmination of several personal trajectories that the Civil War and the Franco regime truncate which, in turn, gave continuity to other figures linked to local conservatism.
