Del Chile de los triunfos morales al \" Chile, país ganador \" . La identidad nacional y la selección chilena de fútbol durante la Dictadura Militar (1973-1989)

A través del estudio de la selección chilena de fútbol, este artículo analiza el impacto de lainstalación de la cultura del libre mercado en el ámbito de la identidad chilena, durante la Dictadura Militarencabezada por Augusto Pinochet ¿Cómo se transformó la identidad chilena durante este proceso? Pararesponder esta pregunta, se compara la concepción social del fútbol durante la Dictadura con la idea predictatorial.Así y por medio del análisis del discurso de la prensa deportiva, se concluye que entre 1973 y1989 la concepción social del fútbol transitó de una visión en la que los triunfos morales eran apreciados auna concepción en la que se vuelven hegemónicos los valores competitivos, centrada prioritariamente enla victoria futbolística. Este tránsito expresa a su vez una profunda mutación en las expectativas, valores yla visión ética e identitaria de los chilenos. Through the study of the Chilean National Football Team, this article analyzes the impact ofthe installation of the culture of the free market within the sphere of Chilean identity, during the MilitaryDictatorship headed by Augusto Pinochet. How was Chilean identity transformed during this process?To answer this question, the social conception of football during the dictatorship will be compared withthe concept of the sport that predominated prior to the dictatorship. Thus, and by means of analyzing thediscourse of the sports press, it concludes that between 1973 and 1989 the social conception of footballchanged from a vision in which moral triumphs were appreciated to a conception in which competitivevalues became hegemonic, centered first and foremost on victory in football. This transition likewiseexpresses a profound mutation in the expectations, values and the ethical vision and sense of identity ofthe Chilean people.
