De la tradición oral marítima vasca a las historias transmodernas contadas del Abra de Bilbao

In the Basque maritime milieu, oral tradition has played an essential role in the passing down oflessons and means of understanding how society is organised. In this article, we look at some of themost relevant contents and expressions from this tradition, paying particular attention to a time inwhich maritime life and society are responding to a situation of transmodernity and change. Previousforms of oral expression have been downgraded in a new maritime environment but nonetheless,stories explaining identity and social life continued to be created and reinterpreted.
