Dactilógrafas y secretarias perfectas: el proceso de feminización de los empleos administrativos (Buenos Aires, 1910-1950)

Este artículo analizará el proceso de feminización que afectó en Buenos Aires al sector administrativo entre 1910 y 1950. Este proceso se caracterizó por un incremento de mujeres en las ocupaciones de dactilógrafa y secretaria. Aquí, por un lado, se discutirán las interpretaciones que lo ubicaron en un período posterior y, por otro lado, se definirán las concepciones sociales que atribuyeron a tales ocupaciones habilidades inherentes a la condición femenina, que se conjuraron con una particular capacitación técnica. Por tanto, se demostrará que los empleos administrativos recibieron cuotas de prestigio social respecto de otras ocupaciones femeninas.*This article analyzes the process of feminization that affected the administrative sector in Buenos Aires between 1910 and 1950. This process was characterized by an increase in the number of women working as typists and secretaries. On the one hand, it discusses the interpretations that situated the process in a later period and, on the other hand, it defines the social conceptions that attributed skills inherent to women to these occupations, conjugated with special technical training. It thus demonstrates that administrative jobs received certain quotas of social prestige with respect to other female occupations.
