Introduction
We applied high and low synergy on Agiba Petroleum Company, which is a joint venture between EGPC -Egypt- and ENI -Italy - . I work in projects department which is responsible for making and reviewing the engineering document, procurement of the new equipment and construction activates. All the department work forces are engineers but from different declines (Civil-mechanical-electrical-process and instrumentation).
Question one
If we apply high vs. low synergy in Agiba, we will find the following:
Zero win game is most likely happen in all situations, you will find a boss how want "yes" from his subordinates. Also if something went wrong you hear "Who did this" not "Why this wrong".
Working on groups, all young engineers work on groups and always gather to discuss any problems even go out after work. On the other hand you will find individualism on the middle and high level management which cause a lot of problem specially when working in construction phase.
From the above you will touch the strong man concept. This idea is clear in the middle and high level management.
Concerning the system and the regulations,
When you sign your contract with the company, now one told you or gives you the HR pocket that contains all internal laws and regulations. Also you did not know the labor law. You will find a week labor union with the same problem stated above.
We are still dealing with the same roles and law constructed in Abd El-Naser period, there is no clear parchment or rewards –no equity system- .the salary of all people are the same even with the difference in the job description and the responsibility.
Question two
As a synergistic manager I will do the following:
The law, everyone should know all roles and labor law. All employees should read the law and I will make shore that they understand it very good be testing them.
Equity system, I have to study and implement new system to post up the productivity.
