Corregidores y alcaldes mayores de Trujillo en la segunda mitad del siglo XVII

Tomando como fuente principal los libros de Acuerdos municipales, ana-lizamos desde una perspectiva institucional la trayectoria de los agentes reales que ejercieron entre 1647 y 1702 en Trujillo, uno de los cuatro grandes corre-gimientos de realengo de Extremadura y la primera ciudad que representó a la provincia en las Cortes de Castilla, asumiendo la capitalidad fiscal de ella. En un primer capítulo, Perfiles, damos cuenta de los nombramientos, titulaciones y experiencia de los corregidores y alcaldes mayores. En el segundo, Potestades, desgranamos sus competencias y salarios. Y en el tercero, Conductas, valora-mos su concordancia, así como sus relaciones, con los regidores y con otras instancias de poder. La fidelidad, la armonía interna y los equilibrios institucionales de las ciudades castellanas dependieron en buena medida de la actuación de estos funcionarios. ABSTRACT Considering the books of municipal records as a principal source, we analyse the royal agents performing their functions between 1647 and 1702 in Trujillo from an institutional approach. Trujillo constituted one of the four big royal corregimientos in Extremadura and the first city representing the province in the Parliament of Castile. Moreover, Trujillo assumed the fiscal centre of the Extremadura. In the first chapter, Perfiles (Profiles), we analyse the appointments, titles and experience of the corregidores and alcaldes mayores. In the second chapter, Potestades (Powers), we extract their functions and salaries. In the third chapter, Conductas (Behaviour), we evaluate its concordance, as well as their relations, with the town and city councillors and other power entities. Fidelity, interior harmony and institutional balance of the Castilian cities depended largely on the performance of those public servants.
