In 1996 the Bay of Chetumal was decreed as a Sanctuary for the Manatee. In 2002 a group of 84 scholars met at the University of Quintana Roo to share their research related to different aspects of the sanctuary. This book reports research on: geology, geography, hydrology, flora, fauna, pollution of the bay, water quality, tourism, governance, and environmental education.
