Construcción de corpus virtuales comparables deslocalizados (DE/ES): Análisis y comparación de recursos. [Building virtual delocalized comparable corpora (DE /ES). Analysis and contrast of resources]

Abstract: In this paper we set out to analyze two reference corpora of the German and two of the Spanish language, with the aim of evaluating to which extent they can be used to build virtual delocalized comparable corpora for corpus-based contrastive or translation studies in the language pair mentioned above, be it on its own or as part of a broader palette of resources. After briefly describing the nature and compilation aims of the four selected corpora, we compare them with respect to the metadata included in its annotation system, the statistical information on and of the selected subsets of data and the basic features of their search interface. This methodology or resource comparison, which draws on Rojo’s (2010) proposal but adds new comparison variables to it, allows us to locate important differences among the resources under study.
