Husserl seems at odds with later developments of phenomenology that locate this movement in the intersection of philosophy and literature. A review of some of the critical continental reception of his work is followed by a reappraisal of his reflections on sense-constitution,  imagination, and on the interweaving of active and passive emotional, volitional, cognitive, and embodied lived-experiences. A brief indication of his struggle with language and the linguistic exposition of his analyses closes this overview.
