Conservación de cañones de fundición de hierro del periodo colonial, que forman parte del patrimonio cultural de la ciudad de San Francisco de Campeche

Because of its historic context and relevance, metallic artifacts considered part of the cultural heritage of the city Campeche, are exposed in open public places where prevails a tropical-humid outdoor atmosphere with medium high corrosive climate.The preservation of iron based cultural goods it’s a priority in order to maintain the cultural identity of the colonial city of Campeche with was included by UNESCO in the list of Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 1999.Different analysis were apply to grey iron cannons in order to determine the chemical composition of the corrosion products, Electrochemical test let us know the behavior of the cannons metal in natural rainfall water and also evaluate the formation of stable patinas using 5% Na OH and 5% Tannic Acid solution.
