ABSTRACT: This work studies the remains from a site located near Osuna (Seville). More specifically, we study one of the best known and most outstanding testimonies of the altoimperial antiquity in Osuna, the pedestal CIL II 2 /5, 1113, dedicated by colonia Genetiua Iulia to its patronus, Senator Lucius Sergius Plautus. In order to do our research we have relied on the historiographical information concerning some findings at a place called " Piedra del Cristiano " in the early nineteenth century. From the analysis of the formal aspects of the inscription, we can consider that the current state of the piece is the result of its reuse as an ara of a Christian altar through the development of a loculus for the deposition of relics, thus forming, together with a board not preserved, an altar table of considerable size which would probably have been located in a religious building complex associated with a necropolis dating back to late antiquity.
