Coexistence issues have historically affected almost every nations. And Chile has been no exception to this. However, unlike many of the states that have had these conflicts and have managed to solve them through international and bilateral treaties or international courts, this issue has been pending in the Chilean national agenda. Because besides of the conflict Chile had with Argentina over disputed regions in the south of their borders, and the recently resolved conflict with Peru over maritime borders, there is an ongoing crisis with Bolivia. The latter in particular, now moves a petition at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in Hague against Chile and their relationship tend to worsen more and more. This case study is an approach to the challenges of coexistence between Chile and Bolivia from a qualitative methodology that privileges the historical evolution of these relationships and the roles that different actors have had in the way they have been addressed. Ends up listing the existing challenges and recommending measures to be taken to change the course of their relationship in a perspective that recognizes the growing interdependence among states and under it, good relations are more beneficial than bad ones.
