CASANDRA: LAS FUNCIONES Y SIGNOS DEL SILENCIO EN EL AGAMENÓN DE ESQUILO Y LAS TROYANAS DE EURÍPIDES Casandra: Functions and signs of silence in Agamemnon of Aeschylus and The Trojan of Euripides

RESUMEN El presente artículo realiza una lectura de los aparentes motivos que se ocultan tras el silencio y el silenciamiento del personaje mítico de Casandra en la tragedia de Esquilo el Agamenón y en las Troyanas de Euripides. El silencio puede presentar diversas convenciones y funciones, su ausencia en el discurso puede mostrar una estrategia, una elección o una imposición como forma no verbal de la comunicación. La diferencia fundamental entre ambos surge en la interpretación y decodificación del silencio y su función a través de los signos en el texto literario. El silenciamiento de Casandra constituye una forma de violencia contra las mujeres que la obligó vivir aislada en una sociedad que la condenó al silencio simbólico. ABSTRACT The present article makes an anlysis of the hidden possible motivations that are concealed behind silence and silencing of the mythical character of Kassandra in the Agammenon of Aeschilus and Troyan Women of Euripides. Silence can evidence different functions and conventions; its absence in discourse can show a strategy, a choice or an imposition as a non-verbal form of communication. The fundamental difference between the two arises in the interpretation and decoding of silence and function through the signs in the literary text. The silencing of Casandra is a form of gender violence that forced her to live isolated in a society that condemned her to a symbolic silence
