Bernabò-Kessel, A Syriac Gospel Book in Diyarbakir, \"Convivium\" 2015

The Syriac Gospel book, housed in the Syrian Orthodox Church of Meryem Ana, Diyarbakir containsthe text of the Peshitta. It has a full-page miniature depicting a standing Christ (similar to the sitting Christ in the Rabbula Gospels, which dates from 525-50 ca) and the canon tables at the starting of the ms. The codex is here dated to ca 550. The illuminations of the codex are reproduced in colors for the first time.
