Modulo VI: Historia de la Relaciones Internacionales
1.- Introducción
Asia es una de las grandes carencias en los programas de Historia Contemporánea, junto a África y, en general, los territorios que quedan fuera del espacio que sentimos como el entorno más cercano, tanto geográfica como culturalmente. Pero la ignorancia no ha sido el único problema, porque Asia (y África) ha sido percibida desde la óptica europea, representándola principalmente como escenario de la historia europea. Durante muchos años, la asignatura se llamó Historia de los Países Afroasiáticos, evidenciando esta percepción como países cuyo vínculo en común ha sido la colonización europea; de hecho, en otras universidades, el título de las asignaturas que han tratado la historia de Asia se titulado "Presencia europea en Asia" o con términos similares.
Desde el curso 2009-2010, el Master Interuniversitario de Historia Contemporánea incluye un curso dedicado a la Historia de Asia y centrado en la historia de los propios asiáticos: "Asia en el siglo XX: áreas geohistóricas, actores y procesos de cooperación y conflicto." Tiene 5 créditos ECTS y la programación incluye 125 horas de trabajo del estudiante, 22 de docencia teórica y seminario, 70 de lectura de fuentes primarias y secundarias y 33 para preparar intervenciones y redactar trabajos. Los objetivos son estudiar los principales procesos que han configurado el Asia actual, las respuestas de sus habitantes al dominio extranjero y su imbricación con las dinámicas globales. Cada año, la clase se enfoca a un tema concreto, y en este curso nos vamos a centrar en las migraciones, la principal novedad de este año.
Estudiar la historia de Asia en este Master de Historia Contemporánea tiene la ventaja de lo (relativamente) pionero: estamos abriendo camino hacia una historia no tan etnocéntrica y con ello estamos abriendo las perspectivas a una visión más global y más interdependiente. Además, muchos pensamos que Asia es el continente del futuro (no sólo en el plano económico, sino también en el político) y los conocimientos sobre estos países son cada vez más demandados, desde las empresas a las universidades.
La novedad también tiene desventajas. La primera de ellas es el escaso conocimiento de base, que hace conveniente en ocasiones que el alumnado necesite en ocasiones consultas adicionales para entender el contexto de las lecturas del programa. Por otro, la necesidad de utilizar el inglés de forma continuada. Se pueden observar claramente en el programa tan amplio de este curso y en su bibliografía, donde predomina la lengua inglesa. Por ello, este curso ofrecerá cada año variaciones sobre el programa en lugar de limitarse a ofrecer la visión superficial que permite un sólo cuatrimestre, mientras que, en tanto no haya publicaciones suficientes en castellano, la mayoría de la bibliografía (y de la webgrafía) estará en lengua inglesa, la lingua franca de los especialistas en la región. Ante estas dificultades, el último objetivo que ofrece el curso, es decir, la interpretación y análisis historiográficos de fuentes primaras europeas y asiáticas, estará supeditado a la necesidad de adquirir un conocimiento previo. Que quede claro, por tanto, que este curso no está pensando para suplir unos conocimientos básicos sobre Historia de Asia que se deben dar durante la licenciatura o el grado. Aun siendo conscientes de esta carencia en muchas universidades, Asia en el siglo XX está destinado a potenciar la capacidad analítica del alumnado y a su integración en el mundo laboral, tal como está planteado el llamado Tercer ciclo.
2.- Metodología
El curso 2015-16 tiene una característica especial, como será estar centrando en torno al período belico en torno a las décadas de 1930 y 1940, el llamado "valle de oscuridad"en el caso de Japón. La parte asiática de la II Guerra Mundial resulta difícil de denominar, se utiliza Guerra Chino-Japonesa, Guerra del Pacífico o, como denominaron entonces "Guerra del Gran Asia Oriental", y la más apropiada, como insiste con buena parte de razón Yukiko Koshiro, es Guerra Pacífico-Eurasiática (GPE), un término de difícil uso continuado. La visión de Asia en este curso estará centrada en torno a los diferentes temas que supone esa guerra para Japón, Asia y el resto del mundo, analizando por supuesto antecedentes y conclusiones.
Las clases, de nuevo de forma novedosa, serán impartidas por el profesor y durarán en torno a la hora de clase. Tras el descanso, la clase se centrará en un debate simulado en el que los alumnos tomaran roles opuestos (Eje-Aliados). El debate lo iniciará un alumno que hará una presentación previa y señalará las diferentes posturas frente a la cuestión de los dos bandos en conflicto, para la que se basará en la bibliografía que aparece en este programa. Esta presentación estará evaluada por los propios compañeros
