Archaeological Survey in Eastern Guadalajara Province, Spain: Initial Results

The Palaeolithic record of the interior of the Iberian Peninsula, the central Meseta, is still relatively poorly documented. In this article we report the results of a preliminary, stratified survey conducted in the eastern part of the province of Guadalajara during 2009 and 2010. The survey enabled us to identify a series of Middle and Upper Palaeolithic sites in an area where no previously recorded Palaeolithic sites exist. These results, in turn, are used to propose a predictive model of archaeological potential that will guide further surveys in the target region.
