Apuntes sobre el estado actual de los estudios cerámicos en las Antillas Mayores

The main purpose of the paper is to make a general outline of the current state of ceramic studies in the Greater Antilles. Through it, rather than repeat the traditional scheme used for the majority of archaeologists - styles/subseries and periods (Rouse 1992) - to build their models of cultural interpretation in this part of the Caribbean, we have concentrated on analyzing some of the models generated from that perspective, as well as other developed as an alternative. This critical review is assumed to a light of some of the data generated in recent years by archaeology, in particular as regards to the origins and development of ceramic technology in the most western part of the Caribbean.  In the analysis of models and proposals, we have tried to group them according to their perspectives and  theoretical inclinations, as well as discuss some of its specific features.
