Descripción

This paper highlights the value of Educational Psychology as the bridging discipline that studies cognitive, social, and affective processes that happen as subjects are part of educational contexts and take part in educational practices. Educational psychologists should attempt to understand the diverse interacting systems. The Secure Base Childcare model shows the interdependence between socio-emotional and cognitive development, serving as an example of what can educational psychologists do promote child development. Finally, we discuss about competences, capacities and professional attitudes that educational psychologists should have to promote an interdisciplinary approach to social-educational reality.
