ANTIGUAS INDUSTRIAS DE LA PROVINCIA DE IMBABURA Y SU ACTIVACIÓN COMO RECURSO TURÍSTICO - OLD INDUSTRIES OF THE IMBABURA PROVINCE AND THEIR ACTIVATION AS A TOURISM RESOURCE

RESUMEN El presente estudio busca dar a conocer el patrimonio industrial que ha sido puesto en valor turís tico en la provincia de Imbabura – Ecuador. Este patri monio está constituido por el Tren de la Libertad, la Fábrica Textil Imbabura y el Ingenio azucarero San J osé que en el pasado cumplían una función industrial y hoy en dí a son usados como recursos turísticos. El tema es relativamente nuevo en el Ecuador debido a que no se conoce a este país como " industrializado " por lo que podría result ar interesante para los amantes del patri monio industrial exótico. Dentro de las conclusiones se mencionan las conexiones pre-industriales de los patrimonios antes mencionados y la aceptación que en los últi mos años está teniendo el t urismo industrial en la zona norte.
