Anti-Modern Imaginings: Racial Typologies in Interwar German Cultural Sciences

This paper, written for Balázs Trencsényi's class on The Political Languages of Anti-Modernism taught at CEU in the Winter term, 2016, is a comparative study of German interwar discourses on 'the Northern Man' and 'the Balkan Man' respectively. It offers particular focus on works of the Slavophile Gerhard Gesemann and the Nordic racist Hans F. K. Günther.
