Descripción

In this paper we will share the conclusions of various lines of research that are being developed at the Soria 2 site (Andalhuala, Southeast of Yocavil valley, Catamarca). The site is a residential unit composed of at least two rooms. Contemporary archaeological strata, dated circa 1940 ± 80 RCYBP, have been uncovered in both structures. These have been interpreted as remains of an occupancy floor belonging to the Formative period of Northwest Argentina (ca. X B.C. to VI A.D.). The chapter synthesizes and discusses data fromvarious thesis and papers generated throughout our ongoing research project. It focuseson how everyday past practices, such as feeding or tool manufacture (ceramics, lithics, etc.,) contributed to the reproduction of the material conditions of life in this household structure. The authors subscribe to different theoretical positions, such as phenomenology, behavioural ecology and historical materialism. The chapter offers an integrative approach around the concept of social reproduction –understood as the causal nexus between practices– which gives some continuity to the relationships constitutive of a social totality.
