A Comparative Study between USA and Bangladesh Police: Perspective Decentralization in Policing

Bangladesh is an emerging democracy in South Asia having a population of about 150 million, characterized by her extreme poverty and prone to political violence. Last few years, the activities of Bangladesh Police are highly criticized in national and international boundaries. It is argued that police is misused by the political parties to gain their political interest, fulfill their revenge and to overcome their obstacles in the political fields. From the British period to modern democratic era of our country, Police is used as a weapon to diminish the rebels. From the very beginning the Bangladesh Police work under a single command. However, the study seeks the answer of most suitable command method in Bangladesh Police, shows a comparison between Bangladesh and United States police system, history, origin and organization, specifically emphasized on the issues of decentralization.
