Resumen / Abstract1. Objetivos• Conocer la evolución de cuidados de enfermería  en LME y cubrir una parcela de la historia de  enfermería en España.• Transmitir  fundamentos teóricos de la rehabilitación en  LME. 2. Fuentes• Cuestionarios a hospitales/unidades específicas, generales, privados, mutualidades  y asociaciones. 3. Metodología• Valoración  ítems  referentes a infraestructura y cuidados. 4. Resultados • 1995: fecha de apertura unidades específicas en España.• En los 70 se contempla como entidad nosológica dentro de las patologías de los hospitales.• En los 80 aparecen  memorias anuales e historias de enfermería y  explosión de las TIC.• Cuidados en todas las alteraciones. 5. Conclusiones• La enfermería que brinda cuidados en la LME ha adquirido un gran nivel de competencia técnica, científica e investigadora. • Cuidados integrales “la importancia de un buen principio” para conseguir la máxima rehabilitación en consonancia con la lesión. Abstract Four nurses from the National Hospital for Paraplegics in Toledo adopting the name ACAR (Ana Laza, Concha Garcés, Amalia Rosa Civera and Mancebo), we offer binomial history of spinal cord injury (SCI) and the advancement of care in this disease entity which causes severe disability.1. Objectives• Understand the evolution of nursing care in LME and cover a plot of the history of nursing in Spain.• Transmit theoretical foundations of rehabilitation in LME. 2. Sources• Questionnaires to hospitals / specific, general, private units, mutual societies and associations. 3. Methodology• Assessment items concerning infrastructure and care. 4. Results• 1995: opening date specific units in Spain.• In the 70 is seen as a clinical entity within the pathologies of hospitals.• In the 80 annual reports and stories of nursing and ICT explosion appear.• Care all alterations. 5. Conclusions• The nursing care provided in the LME has acquired a high level of technical, scientific and research competence.• Comprehensive care "the importance of a good start" for maximum rehabilitation consistent with the injury.
