SESSION DETAILS Session Time: Wed. 08 July - 11.15-12.45 Abstract: This session discusses the attitudes of Christians, Jews, and Muslims to poverty: solidarity networks and realities of everyday life in the Iberian Peninsula during the Middle Ages. The first paper examines the forms and functions of Islamic charity in the Andalusian period. The second paper is an approach to the economic situation of the Jews in medieval Galicia to see if the stereotype of wealthy Jews is real or not. Finally, the third paper analyzes the last wills of Christian women to study the pious endowments in favor of the poor and sick people. In short, we are going to talk about how medieval people lived poverty and about solidarity networks to alleviate it.
