Prostitutes and Prostitution Guide for America and Americans ~ Las prostitutas y Guía de prostitución para América y los americanos Indeed a touchy subject for many, yet one worthy of discussion. Why is it worthy of discussion? Several reasons actually, the first is I am a big believer of discussing all subjects. Secondly The United States has a very myopic and puritanical view on morals, this is ironic as our music and film industry are leaders in progressiveness. Lastly, most Americans have a distorted view of who they consider prostitutes and what prostitution is. The fact is the same as in most things, little is black or white and there is much grey area in between. They say prostitution is the oldest occupation; I doubt that, but certainly it has a long history. The US is also very Christian, despite our own attempts to insist it is. If you happen to be a good Christian and know your bible’s teachings, you will remember how frequent prostitution and prostitutes are mentioned in the Bible. Let us look at a few of hundreds of passages to remind you and also reinforce the Christian warnings about judging others. John 8.7 “But when they persisted in asking Him, He straightened up, and said to them, He who is without sin among you, let him be the first to throw a stone at her." Matthew 7.1 "Do not judge, or you too will be judged” Romans 2.1 “You, therefore, have no excuse, you who pass judgment on someone else, for at whatever point you judge another, you are condemning yourself” I think you’ll agree these are not obscure tenants of the Bible, but famous ones. The fact is there are plenty of women born in the US who simply likes casual sex, there are plenty more that insist on a man taking them on a formal date to an expensive charity event, a weekend trip, a sports event…are these prostitutes too? There is also a big difference between a woman having sex without negotiating a price and accepts a gift and a woman who does not accept the gift. In fact the considerate man often just leaves a monetary gift somewhere the woman will find it later, rather than hand it to her. The reality is there are plenty of fine women who because of circumstance have turned to the only option available to them, some become hard core prostitutes, yet most do not. Labeling these women as prostitutes is as wrong as ignoring the fact brown is the color between black and white. There are plenty of good girls who have a less than perfect past, these should be allowed a future in Christian America or anywhere.
