La traducción y adaptación de canciones en el teatro musical: el caso de \"Los Miserables\"

The Final Project I propose revolves around the adaptation of the lyrics of musicaltheatre works. Specifically, it focuses on the musical Les Misérables (Los miserables, inSpanish).The reason which made me choose this subject is my great passion for theatre, musicand translation. Therefore, this topic is perfect, since it gathers all these fields.The main objective of this project is to determine the translation tendency of the lyricsof two productions of this musical in Spain. To this aim, I will describe the translationstrategies used for the transference of the content of the texts from English as the source language into Spanish as the target language.Regarding the methodology employed, it consisted on the viewing of the song lyrics inboth languages and on a comparative analysis in order to draw conclusions about thetranslation tendency which predominates in the textual elements of these musicaladaptations.
