Lotman Semiotics Like a Knowledge TheoryAbstractIuri Mijailovich Lotman (1922-1993) was an investigator of Tartu University (Estonia) with a recognizedinternational trajectory, whose contributions in the field of the Semiotics of Culture extended the borders of thethen so called Soviet Union, in spite of the difficulties and censorships imposed by the communist government tothe diffusion of their work. According to Caceres Sanchez (in Lotman, 1996), this work included a whole diversity ofproblems beyond the Semiotics theory, to enter itself in mythology, cinema, history of culture, aesthetic one, theater,Literature, among others. The present theoretical reflection tries to add a value more to the Lotman contributions,when examining his text La semiosfera II. Semiótica de la cultura, del texto, de la conducta y del espacio (1998) andshowing them as the bases to construct a knowledge theory.Key words: Semiotics of Culture, Knowledge Theory, Tartu University, Semiotics of Text
