HACIA UNA ERÓTICA DE LA IMAGEN : CONTRA LA INTERPRETACIÓN

The object of this paper is to contribute to the development of a general theory of the images, through the proposal of an alternative to the traditional linguistic approach for their study. The frame of reference of the problem this paper fronts is connected to the group of questions the so-called Visual Studies –as critical approach to visual culture-deal with. It leans on previous investigations about images that propose a critical reconsideration of the notion " image " ;. e.g. V.J.T.Mitchell (2004) ; James Elkins (1999, 2003), Didi Huberman (1990, 1992), David Freedberg (1992) y Alfred Gell (2005), adopting, not without reserve, Susan Sontag’s proposal in Against Interpretation (1964): “In place of a hermeneutics we need an erotics of art”.
