El juego literario en «Travesuras de la niña mala» de Mario Vargas Llosa

In Travesuras de la niña mala Mario Vargas Llosa establishes a surprising dialogue between the Latin-American literary ‘boom’ and ‘postboom’ movements. In appearance a sentimental novel, reminiscent of much ‘postboom’ literature at the end of the twentieth century, Travesuras paradoxically puts forward some major issues of the successful ‘boom’ generation. This is shown in the novel’s technically refined handling of narrative space, in topics such as voluntary exile, and in intertextual references.
