Many of such solutions have enormous commercial potential. Although medicinal and aromatic plants are almost an unlimited source of metabolites, industrial and commercial developments of these products have not been successful as expected. Several reasons have been reported to explain faults in some plant biotechnological systems. In this paper, a summary of biotechnology in secondary metabolite production is presented.
