Spaniards continue to support the policies of health, education, unemployment protection and pensions, which appears to have strengthened during the crisis. Attitudes toward have been less stable in relation to other areas of governmental spending and what concerns taxation. Although attitudes of Spaniards as a whole toward the Welfare State appear to have converged with those of the Europeans in recent years, at the regional level we can find subsantial variation in attitudes regarding social policies.
